Who could forget Anthony Tanner? Having arrived at Guggenheim i found most of the children to be well-adjusted to the chaotic way of life endemic in the school's foundering last days. Anthony was different. He was new to the school and frustrated by the lack of order and attention afforded him. I took Anthony under my wing and tried to help him as much as my time would allow. He was sometimes good, sometimes sheer evil... he was stressed and alone. I bought him a "Wheres Waldo" book... he threw it on the floor and said "I dont want that stupid book". My initial reaction was to be angry and think he was ungrateful (perhaps he was) but one must remember that the act of giving a gift is not contingent on the reaction of the recipient... i forgave him and wanted him to be well... Who knows?
